Hollywood (2 of 7)
http://forerunner.com/predvestnik/hollywood.html
The following won the "Best Documentary" at a Christian Broadcasters' Awards ceremony in Moscow. I produced the video with LOZA-TV in 2000. Victor Victorov narrates a script that has been translated and adapted from Reel to Real's HOLLYWOOD series written by Eric Holmberg.
(VICTOR)
Little do many of us realize -- that in a very real sense -- we're spending hours a day sitting before an idol a false god -- listening to his deceptions, traveling a road of celluloid and sound waves that only too often leads into the very belly of the beast. We will see that overtly occult and satanic influences are very real influences in Hollywood. However, the primary force behind all this visual and aural wickedness is nothing more sinister than the love of money.
(VOICE)
One of the most influential men in Hollywood is Francis Ford Coppola, director of The Godfather and Apocalypse Now. Before he became an international sensation, he described his willingness as a young college student ... "to do anything to get to make more films, and the best opportunity was in the field of the exploitation film -- by which I mean nudie, science fiction, and horror films."
Coppola went on to describe his first job in Hollywood -- a remake of the Russian science fiction film Nebo Zoyet. In one of the saddest commentaries on the tastes of the film-going public as well as on the integrity of those who make films, he remembered:
I knew that the Russians made very warm, brotherly-love science fiction films and that no one in this country would ever want to see a science fiction picture that didn't have a lot of sex and violence in it. In one scene, for example, a Russian astronaut sees the figure of a Golden Astronaut -- a symbol of Hope -- standing on a crag. It was really lovely. The director said, "We've got to put two monsters on that crag." He wanted one monster to be a male sexual symbol and the other to be female. Obviously, one had to devour the other. We said to Roger, "This is just too much; you can't just..." But we could and we did -- matting in sex and violence where the Russians had the Golden Astronaut of Hope.
(VICTOR)
The real power behind Hollywood isn't some secret conspiracy of communists, Satanists, witches or some other crazy group. In large part, the media industry is simply giving us what we pay for. The simplest way to ensure that a film will make money is to include frequent scenes of gratuitous sex and violence which have nothing to do with the plot -- graphic scenes that could easily be edited without altering the meaning of the story. And from this, we can learn two very valuable lessons:
(VOICE)
One, that the Bible is right where it says: The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil(1 Timothy 6:10).
Two, the problem isn't ultimately with Hollywood, it's with us. And that is where the solution is going to have to begin.
(VICTOR)
Let us now us to briefly examine the dominant philosophy of art that floats around the periphery of the industry. Because while money motivates most producers, there are still those who cling to their idea of TRUTH They believe that music and film as art forms -- should "mean" something. And for these artists, there's another purpose for their craft besides simply filling movie theaters.
[Interviews: WHAT IS TRUTH?]
(VICTOR)
Without question, this existential philosophy, that TRUTH is whatever you make it, pervades Hollywood. In one form or another, a counterfeit idea of Truth provides the very foundation for the brave new world being fashioned by the media elite. This philosophy is perhaps best described as the CATHARTIC view of art, the idea that the best and the bravest way to come to terms with the dark passions of the human heart is to simply embrace them -- to give them detailed expression through the medium of film or music. For these "High Priests of Hollywood", the writer, the director, and the musician are there to lead us to the TRUTH that -- presumably -- lies waiting beyond the gates of hell.
(VOICE)
This scene was shot for Apocalypse Now, Francis Coppola's epic film. For Coppola, this journey into hell became a metaphor for, not only America's struggle in Vietnam, but the journey of both artist and audience into the dark light of being.
Director Martin Scorcese acknowledges that his films are cathartic therapy for his personal: ...anger and rage and craziness.
And Adrian Lyne, director of Fatal Attraction and 91/2 Weeks, deliberately explores the dark corners of the human psyche as a way of speaking: ...to something lurking somewhere inside all of us.

Hollywood (1 of 7)
http://forerunner.com/predvestnik/hollywood.html
The following won the "Best Documentary" at the Christian Broadcasters' Awards in Moscow. I produced the video with LOZA-TV in 2000. Victor Victorov narrates a script that has been translated and adapted from Reel to Real's HOLLYWOOD series written by Eric Holmberg.
Introduction
(VICTOR)
In this presentation we're going to look more closely at the powerful relationship that exists between young people and the entertainment industry. We'll explore the background and development of this relationship as well as its effects, particularly in regard to the issues about the power and philosophy of spiritual deception, rebellion, sexual immorality, and violent behavior.
The light to guide us on our journey will be provided always by the Word of God. Be forewarned, however, even with this light firmly in hand, the journey will at times be a dark and difficult one. Some scenes may be disturbing to young children and spiritually sensitive people. For this reason, parental discretion is advised.
What we're about to consider is very serious business - families, lives, and souls are at stake - millions of them -- we're not going to use gentle words. Some hard things are going to be said about both the issues and the people involved. But please understand that "but for the grace of God there go I.'' In my lifetime, before I came to know Jesus Christ, I even stood for some of the very things we're about to expose. We recognize that all people are sinners and we desperately need God's love and forgiveness. Know that we sincerely love and care about these artists and pray for their repentance and salvation.
[SCRIPTURE ON SCREEN]
I pray that: "...they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will." 2 Timothy 2:26
OPENING
[This will be a montage of scenes from the video. At the end of the opening, there will be the clip of a robot destroying a TV set.]
PART 1
POWER AND PHILOSOPHY
(VICTOR)
It would be great if it were that easy, but shouting "STOP!", killing your TV, or moving to a house in some wilderness isn't going to stop the action. Whether we like it or not, technology has placed the modern media industry in a position of unprecedented power and influence. It has become "the most powerful force in the world today."
(VOICE)
We have been transformed into a nation where there are more televisions than bathrooms. Where the average citizen spends many hours a day living in a world of electronic images and sounds. In the words of one noted media expert: "The fact is incontrovertible: People today live 'by the media' whereas once they lived 'by the book.'"
Perhaps most disturbing of all, the situation scarcely improves among those who should know better -- people whose religion challenges them time and again to not focus on the shifting shadows of a world at war with God. Only God knows how many more hours are filled with our pursuit of amusement rather than with prayer, worship, Bible study, and Christian service. It is also true that the average Christian spends more money on entertainment than on all forms of Christian offerings combined.
The purpose of this video presentation is to hold the mirror of God's Word up before the face of Western culture -- particularly the films and media entertainment of the West. And then, once having seen what we've become, our prayer is that we will repent --turn from our sins and allow the Heavenly Father to change us into the likeness of His dear Son Jesus Christ.

KEPPE MOTOR DOCUMENTARY: BRINGS ENERGY SOLUTIONS AND HOPE (Trailer)
Its the most significant technological development since the great Serbian inventor, Nikola Tesla, says STOP president, Claudia Bernhardt Pacheco, and it does something he was never able to do usher in a new era of sustainable, clean and inexpensive technology. Just like solar panels capture energy from the sun, the Keppe Motor captures essential or scalar energy from the vacuum of space, which it turns out is no vacuum at all. Traditional motors block this aspect of the energy field, which accounts for their relative inefficiency. The Keppe Motor is a cold running motor, meaning its more reliable and production costs are low. The Keppe Motor also needs no oil or gas and much less electricity to run and is completely free of carbon emissions. It can potentially replace many types of motors, but with less strain on the environment. This makes it immediately useful for combating global warming and reducing pollution, Veralice Souza: As well, increases in solar flare activity are projected to continue, causing negative impact on telecommunications and worldwide electrical systems. The Keppe Motors technology is significantly less reliant on electricity, which will help humanity unplug from the electrical grid. www.keppemotor.com / www.stop.org.br

Colonizing The Moon
The Vision for Space Exploration is the United States space policy announced on January 14, 2004 by U.S. President George W. Bush. It is seen as a response to the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster, the state of human spaceflight at NASA, and a way to regain public enthusiasm for space exploration.
The Vision calls for the space program to:
Complete the International Space Station by 2010
Retire the Space Shuttle by 2010
Develop the Orion spacecraft (formerly known as the Crew Exploration Vehicle) by 2008, and conduct its first human spaceflight mission by 2014
Develop Shuttle Derived Launch Vehicles
Explore the Moon with robotic spacecraft missions by 2008 and crewed missions by 2020
Explore Mars and other destinations with robotic and crewed missions
When the Vision was announced in January 2004, the U.S. Congress and the scientific community gave it a mix of positive and negative reviews. For example, Rep. Dave Weldon (R-Fla.) said, "I think this is the best thing that has happened to the space program in decades," while physicist and outspoken manned spaceflight opponent Robert L. Park said that robotic spacecraft "are doing so well it's going to be hard to justify sending a human."
Others, such as the Mars Society have argued that it makes more sense to avoid going back to the Moon and instead focus on going to Mars first.
In a position paper issued by the National Space Society (NSS), a return to the Moon should be considered a high space program priority, in order to begin development of the knowledge and identification of the industries unique to the Moon. The NSS believes that the Moon may be a repository of the history and possible future of our planet, and that the six Apollo landings only scratched the surface of that treasure.
According to NSS, the Moon's far side, permanently shielded from the noisy Earth, is an ideal site for future radio astronomy. Unique products may be producible in the nearly limitless extreme vacuum of the lunar surface, and the Moon's remoteness is the ultimate isolation for biologically hazardous experiments.
Lunar resources include most if not all raw materials available on Earth. The Moon can serve as a proving ground for a wide range of space operations and processes, including developments toward In-Situ Resource Utilization or "living off the land" (i.e., self-sufficiency) for permanent human outposts. This has various benefits.
Initial return missions as recently proposed by the U.S. President and NASA can be done through space operations using the existing launch infrastructure and assets developed by the shuttle and International Space Station programs, plus existing expendable launch vehicles, with a minimum of new research and development programs. The lessons learned from international cooperation during ISS construction and operations can be improved upon and extended to human missions to the Moon, Mars and elsewhere.
Initial missions could place scientific equipment on the Moon and return samples from areas never explored, such as the polar regions. Extent of water and other volatiles important to lunar industrialization could be determined. As future reusable launch systems begin operations, reducing cost and enabling higher flight rates, Earth-Moon traffic can become routine. With humans on the Moon again, NASA's space activities would take on new vigor and public interest.
Throughout much of 2004, it was unclear whether the U.S. Congress would be willing to approve and fund the Vision for Space Exploration. However, in November 2004, Congress passed an omnibus spending bill which gave NASA the $16.2 billion that President Bush had sought to kick-start the Vision. According to then-NASA chief Sean O'Keefe, that spending bill "was as strong an endorsement [of the space exploration vision] as any of us could have imagined." In 2005, Congress passed S.1281, the NASA Authorization act of 2005, which explicitly endorses the Vision.
The current NASA Administrator, Michael Griffin, who took office in April 2005, is a big supporter of the Vision, but has also modified it somewhat, saying that he wants to reduce the four year gap between the retirement of the Space Shuttle and the first manned mission of the Crew Exploration Vehicle.

2-5 If We Had No Moon _ Space Documentary
If We Had No Moon
An essay by Bernard Foing
If the time of Earths existence was condensed into a 24-hour clock, the moon formation event occurred just 10 minutes after the Earth was born. The Earth formed 4.56 billion years ago, and the Moon formed about 30 million years later. At that time, the Earth was a magma ocean. An impactor about the size of Mars struck the Earth at an oblique angle, and removed some of the magmatic mantle. This mantle was put in orbit around the Earth, together with some of the debris from the impactor itself, and this material eventually formed the Moon.
Artists representation of the moon formation event. Copyright Fahad Sulehria, 2005, www.novacelestia.com
When the Moon first formed, it was very close to the Earth. It was possibly only 20 to 30 thousands of kilometers away, and it would have looked extremely large in the sky, at least 20 to 10 times bigger. But there were no living creatures on the Earth at that time to witness this beautiful scene.
The tidal effect of a body increases as a cube of the distance, so the effect of the Moons tidal forcing on the Earth was extremely high at this time, to the point that the early magma ocean was affected. This provided some additional energy to the heating from radioactive elements present, but after the radiogenic heating decayed, the Moon still was a source of heating that may have had some geological effect, keeping the Earths magma hot and perhaps forcing additional convection in the Earths mantle.
After the Earth started to cool, the first crust started to float on top of the magma. During this period the Earth was subjected to increased meteor bombardment. The bombardment had been very intense at the beginning of the solar system and then had started to decline, but about 500 million years after the birth of the Earth, or about 2 hours and 40 minutes into our clock of 24 hours, there was a burst of impactors. This lasted for about hundred million years, and we call this the late heavy bombardment. Many of the large basins on the Moon are evidence of this late heavy bombardment period. In this way, the Moon is a history book for the inner solar system and the Earth. We have studied these basins with the SMART-1 mission.
The Moons heavily cratered surface is evidence of the many meteorite impacts that occurred in the inner solar system during the late heavy bombardment period.
Credit: ESA
The Earth was hit more often than the Moon, however, because Earth is larger and has more gravity. This increased gravity also caused the impactors to be accelerated to higher velocities towards the Earth. That must have been a catastrophic time to be here. So many bombardments would have sterilized the planet. If life had appeared before this period, it would have been extinguished unless it found a way to retreat into niches where it could be protected from these global catastrophes.
When some of these impactors hit the Earth, the explosion caused rocks and dirt from Earth to shoot up and away from our planet. Some of that projected material flew all over the solar system, and some of it landed on the Moon. There could be a few hundred kilograms of Earth material per square kilometer of the Moons surface, buried under a few meters of lunar soil. It would be interesting to retrieve those rocks and bring back samples of the early Earth. Almost nothing from this time period has survived on the Earth because of tectonic recycling of the crust plates or because of atmospheric weathering. We would try to detect some organics within those rocks, and that could tell us about the history of organic chemistry on Earth. Some of these rocks could even have preserved fossils of life. Such rocks could help us look further back into the fossil record, which now stops at 3.5 billion years ago. This way, we could possibly learn about the emergence of life on Earth.

Intro to
This is the introduction to the BBC documentary "Voyage to the Planets" (titled "Space Odyssey" in Britain). Coming from the same people producing the "Walking With..." series of educational specials, it's a very real-seeming documentary which treats the mission as though it were actually happening. The astronauts visit the majority of the planets of the Solar System using plausible near-term future space hardware. I highly recommend the DVD.

State of the Planet: 1. Is There A Crisis? (Part 1/5)
State of the Planet is a three-part environmental documentary series, made by the BBC Natural History Unit. It is written and presented by David Attenborough, and produced by Rupert Barrington. It includes interviews with many leading scientists, such as Edward O. Wilson and Jared Diamond. Each of the programmes attempts to find answers to the potential ecological crisis that threatens the Earth.
"Is there a Crisis?": Together with leading experts, David Attenborough examines the latest scientific evidence in order to discover if the planet's ecosystems are really in crisis. If so, he asks how it could have come about, and what is so different now that prevents certain species from adapting to survive, as they did in the past?

"Experience the planet as never before with the most ambitious factual series ever produced about the planet earth. Created by the BBC and shot entirely in high definition, this groundbreaking eleven-part series is the ultimate portrait of the planet, providing an unparalleled view of the world's finest landscapes and incredible footage of creatures that could never be filmed in the wild before.
Four years in the making, the world's premier wildlife cameramen have travelled all over the planet, from the world's greatest rivers and impressive gorges to the mightiest mountains -- from the hidden underground world of caves and caverns to vast deserts -- to bring viewers a new perspective on some of the planet's most iconic habitats. Imagine the Gobi Desert covered in snow; the view from the top of Angel Falls. Planet Earth contains long powerful sequences that have never been filmed before, delivering revelation and wonder in every episode.
Narrated by the legendary Sir David Attenborough and accompanied by a musical score from multiple Academy Award nominee George Fenton, Planet Earth blends the best of the visual and musical worlds to bring viewers unprecedented footage of some of nature's greatest spectacles.
Included are huge migrations caught on camera, sand storms and plagues of locusts filmed in full force, and animals and landscapes caught on film for the first time. Planet Earth reveals that there is so much of the planet that has not yet been explored on television." ~ CBC Newsworld

"Planet Earth is an Emmy Award and Peabody Award-winning BBC nature documentary series narrated by David Attenborough and produced by Alastair Fothergill. It was first broadcast in the UK from 5 March 2006. The American version is narrated by Sigourney Weaver.
The series was co-produced with Discovery Channel and the NHK in association with the CBC, and was described by its makers as "the definitive look at the diversity of our planet". It was also the first of its kind to be filmed entirely in high-definition.[1] The series was nominated for the Pioneer Audience Award for Best Programme at the 2007 BAFTA TV awards.[2]" ~wikipedia
